MissFit….

It’s been a while since I posted a ‘fashion’ blog and I’m missing playing with my love of fashion! It is my intention to spend some more time on this section of my blog in the coming weeks:) But this week’s findings are a great one! If you’re after a new sportswear range of clothing for your wardrobe and you’re sick of wearing the same gear you’ve had in your cupboard forever, then look no further I have found the perfect range for you!

Kate Beeley is a healthy, fit and dedicated mother of 2, who has her own personal fitness business – MissFit Personal Training and in 2011, she designed and started her own sportswear range for her clients and anyone looking for comfort and style! Kate is a wonderful role model for women, especially mums who are looking to get back into shape after having a baby and need the motivation and encouragement to do so.

MissFit is a quality and affordable range of sportswear that I highly recommend. There are several items to choose from which range in style and colour to meet your needs. You can either browse and purchase online or visit the store which is located on 429 Old Cleveland Rd, Coorparoo.

I haven’t had the pleasure of visiting the MissFit store yet, but I have full intentions of doing so in the near future. Instead I made my purchase of my MissFit sportswear online and I’m happy to say it was a pleasurable experience. It was easy and I received my goods within a few days of purchase. I was also lucky enough to be able to take advantage of the 30% off sale that MissFit was offering last weekend, in conjunction with the Brisbane Health and Fitness expo held at the Convention Centre.

These were my purchases:

These are my first MissFit purchases so far. I’m all fitted out for summer now, well so I thought until I saw some of the new stock that I MUST have!! I wore my first MissFit outfit yesterday and I was so impressed with how comfortable each piece was, especially the shorts!! I find as a runner, I need my comfort to be not only in my shoes but my shorts or tights. I was so happy to finish my 10k (flat) run yesterday with the second fastest time I’ve ever run (48.32mins) – must have been the outfit…thank you MissFit;)! I look forward to wearing each of my new pieces of MissFit sportswear as I start a new week of running!

Spring Has Sprung!

Spring has surely sprung and this year it sprung quite early!!! I just LOVE this time of year. Spring is my favourite season of all time (apart from summer of course). The beautiful clear skies, longer days, sunshine and flowers that bring lots and lots of colour! It’s the time of the year where we can pack away our jackets and scarves and start to show the world our skin again. It’s the time of year where we come out of hibernation and get ready for the festive season!!

Well I’m almost ready to think about Christmas! It’s VERY early for me to say that, but because we have been spoilt with spring spilling over into winter, I started on my ‘spring to do list’ early! (Apart of me wants to see the back end of this horrid year too). Since the beginning of August I’ve been cleaning, sorting and redecorating each section of my house. Where I would normally be only just starting my ‘spring cleaning’, I have almost finished! It’s funny how once the temperature rises, after have a few months of the cold, our bodies go into cleaning overdrive – well mine does anyway lol!

So far I’ve…
*Cleaned the windows and normally would clean the blinds but this year we installed new ones on all the windows.
*Cleaned the oven
*Cleaned the fridge and freezer
*Cleaned the microwave
*Scrubbed my kitchen cupboards, particularly the kick boards.
*Tidied up areas of the house (inside and outside) that were accumulating piles of nothing so that everything now has a place!

All I have left now is…
*Clean the walls
*Sort the kids clothes ready for the new season.
*And my husband needs to gurney out the front and back of the house!

My nice organised clean fridge and freezer and sparking clean oven!!
It’s a great feeling when your house has had a once over!!!

I love spring fashion! The weather allows us to wear a mix of our winter and summer wardrobe and it’s the time of year where you can wear all your brights and bring out your flowers to accessorise. My favourite two colours at the moment are yellow and coral…I can’t get enough of them. Whether it be clothes or accessories they are the first two colours I go for! These two colours certainly brighten up my day!

Aside from my spring cleaning frenzy and my love of spring fashion, spring allows us to spend our days outside soaking up the beautiful weather together, while creating more wonderful memories. And what better way to have the kids home for the school holidays!! We have so many fun things planned that include play dates at playgrounds, the local pool and the beach!

Taken on our first trip down at Wynnum this season…so many outings to look forward to!!

I’m hoping now we’ve venture into a new season things will start to feel happier for our family. We sure had a terrible winter with my beautiful nana passing away on June 1st. Now the flowers are blooming and there are more butterflies than ever, we can find some comfort in knowing Nana will be around everywhere!

Fluro and floral…yep it’s spring time!!!

Keep an eye out later in the week for my post on ‘A Freshen Up’…a look inside my home at my new decorating pieces!

$1 Well Spent!

It’s been ages since I’ve written a fashion blog!!! So much has been happening with other parts of my life I just haven’t had the time. But watch this space as it’s getting closer to winter and you all know I LOVE winter fashion. I will be doing a series of winter fashion blogs in the coming weeks!

But today I had to share my recent most bargain purchase. My yellow top for $1!!! That’s right $1!!!! As I walked through the aisles of K-Mart the other day, they had sale racks with very little left on them, but neatly stacked in a row were a dozen yellow tees. The yellow caught my eye at first, as this is one of my favourite colours that I love to wear, but it’s not the most popular in stores. When I went over and had a look at the sale ticket it was marked $1!!!! I couldn’t believe my eyes and I said to my 2 year old daughter who looked back at me with her big blue eyes “OMG Mia these tips are $1!!!! Lol! I had to giggle to myself when other people were stopping and saying the same thing!

I couldn’t resist and bought one. It may not last long and may shrink in the wash and be only good for one wear, but I don’t care as it was $1!!!!! Never in all the years of my bargain findings have I purchased a top for under $5. I think on a few occasions I have been lucky enough to nab a top for $3 or $4 but $1- I was impressed!

I’m not too proud to buy clothes from anywhere. Clothes are just material sewn together to cover our bodies. As long as it looks good, feels good on and is exactly what I want, I purchase and for $1 you can never ever go wrong!!!

I wore my top today and I love it!! Very comfy on:)

D is for Dress!!!!!

It’s been a while since I posted a fashion blog and more than ever I am loving the fashion at the moment! It’s quite versatile, bright and laced all things that I like! My aim, like I did for winter, was to compile a list of summer essentials, but due to the busyness of Christmas and holidaying, I haven’t had the time. Instead throughout summer I will update my bargain purchases cause who doesn’t like a bargain???

Recently I’ve discovered the love of a dress again. I’ve always liked dresses and have quite a few, but for me it’s one of those items that I go through a phase with…and yes I’m in a dress phase at the moment! After having a clean out of my wardrobe recently I was left with very little choice of dresses, but I’m happy to say that I’ve made some bargain purchases lately to help fix that situation!

My recent purchases….

20130110-174813.jpg

My two bargain purchases from K-Mart…on sale $8 each thank you very much! Dress them up with some black heels, a black clutch bag, nice big black earrings and hair down or swooped up with a flower and you’ll be all ready to party!

20130110-175050.jpg
A wardrobe always needs some lovely maxi dresses…yellow one was $15 from SES and the beige one was $50 from a shop at Burleigh…both oh so summery!

20130110-175500.jpg
My local shopping centre at Calamvale has a cute little boutique store called In Style…these dresses I purchased for $10 each accept for my blue one which was $50!

20130110-175648.jpg
Love this little casual dress for any girly occasion from Ice for $10!

My favourite out of all of them is my blue party dress I bought to wear for my husband’s Christmas party…it’s nice to get all dolled up, even if it is every now and again!

So there you have it my recent dress fetish…now to have somewhere to wear them to…must be time for a girls night out???

Floral and Flowing!

It’s come to my attention that the summer selection of tops in my wardrobe are either plain and singlet style or plain and strapless. So I am now on a mission for the next month to only purchase tops in particular, that are one – different to anything else in my wardrobe and two – includes a pattern or print!

My first purchase is a beautiful floral and flowing top that I bought from Best and Less today for $20! I was having a quick browse (as you do with kids in toe) when the colour and style of the top caught my eye. I’m refraining from buying things now that I have similar stuff too…difference is what I’m after at the moment!

20121109-140950.jpg

It’s the perfect time of year to purchase a few really nice different tops that you can mix and match with some nice shorts, cute comfy shoes and accessories! Between now and the new year we will all be faced with several invitations for festive get togethers so we have to have the clothes to keep up with it all….well it’s a good excuse anyway:)

20121109-141344.jpg
This is one combination I would wear as a casual look that includes my new top or you could dress it up with some skinny jeans and nice heels!

Floral and flowing is quite the in thing at the moment and I’m really liking it! It’s not something that I have had a lot of in my wardrobe in the past, but I’m certainly going to embrace it now it’s here!

20121109-191201.jpg
This is what the top looks like on…so comfy:)

Found and Purchased!

The days are rolling so fast into weeks which is getting closer and closer to summer and the holiday season! I was starting to feel the pressure of not having a pair of togs to wear! We’ve taken the kids swimming a few times so far, but I was the guard watching over all our stuff as I didn’t have a pair of togs that fitted me or looked half decent!

By now if you’ve been a regular reader of my blogs, you would know the challenges I’ve had with my belly! Between having three massive babies, which caused three large muscle separations, my belly has been left in a bit of a mess. It’s taken a while and lots of hard work, but it’s shrunk in size but the excess skin is too much to bare! So it’s been a rollercoaster ride to decide what am I going to wear this summer – a one or two piece! I’ve gone with the comfortable option of a one piece! When I’m out swimming and having fun with the kids I want to feel comfortable and I know a one piece will allow this to happen!

But as we all know, the choices we are left for a one piece compared to a bikini is the same when you go to buy a baby girl’s outfit compared to a baby boy’s…half the amount! I’ve looked at surf shops, Big W, Kmart, David Jones, online and eBay! I managed to find a nice pair in the Mambo section of Big W on sale for $20 which I bought as an interim pair until I found a really good pair that I loved!

20121104-163428.jpg

This week the Myer summer catalogue was delivered to our house! I don’t know whether it was the beautiful pair of togs on the front cover that caught my eye first or the 25% off all swimwear – I think my eyes are automatically drawn to a percentage sign lol! Anyway I saw a few pairs in the catalogue that I liked, particularly from the Jennifer Hawkins range ‘Cozi’! So today, without children, I took a trip to the Hyperdome and tried a few pairs of togs on! I even tried on a two piece first which I loved but the loose skin just didn’t do it for me lol!

After being convinced a one piece is the only way for me to go, I tried on two different ones from the Jennifer Hawkins range. One I really liked, but the other I loved! It’s bright its beautiful and very flattering on! Plus it has good padding in the bust area which I definitely need lol!

They can be worn as strapless or halter neck….I love the colours!!!

After a successful tog shopping trip, I went straight home and matched my new pair of swimmers to my swimwear essentials and am happy to be sporting this over the summer period this year:)!

My swimwear essentials…togs, cover dress, hat and havaianas!!!!

Bring on summer!

Mix….

After a long (but lovely fashion wise) winter, the warmer weather is starting to greet us so what better way to sort through our existing summer wardrobe and stock up on what we need! I’m in the middle of compiling stuff for my summer fashion blog so keep an eye out in the coming weeks!

The point of this fashion blog is to promote Coles’ range of clothing called ‘Mix’! I originally came across the Mix brand about a year ago when it was being introduced at our local Pick and Pay! One of the first things I bought was a running outfit (I know shocking lol)! Since then I’ve bought a heap of different things from pants, jackets, to casual tops and shorts! So far I have never been disappointed by their quality (they wash really well) and the best bit their prices are awesome!

Last week I picked up 4 singlet tops that were $6 each or 2 for $9, a pair of tailored black shorts for $19 and a beautiful pair of earrings for $10….6 things for under $50 I was happy with that!

20121019-153923.jpg

The most exciting thing about this range is that they have bought out babies, kids and men’s clothing! Again the quality is awesome and the prices are fantastic! I would definitely recommend if you are ever at Sunnybank Hills Shopping Centre check out the Mix range of clothing situated upstairs at Coles (the old Pick and Pay)!

My ‘BIG’ Bag Life!

It’s common knowledge that I love fashion, whether it be clothes, shoes, accessories, I love shopping for it all! One thing I have always had a fetish for is handbags! I have bought that many since I was able to purchase my own things, that it would probably be close to over 100 bags that I have owned in my life so far! Big, small, clutch style, you name it I’ve probably bought it at one stage or another!

Pre-children I mostly bought small to medium style handbags, just big enough to fit my purse, phone, keys and the other few odd bits and pieces us females like to carry around! Oh how life has changed! For the past 6 years I’ve hardly sported many of my ideal style handbags as a nappy bag has mostly been attached to my shoulder! With each child brought a new nappy bag (or should I say several with each child heheheh)! I’ve gone from backpacks, to traditional style nappy bags, to a large style handbag that fits everything I need!

Most days I’m cool with not carrying a normal handbag around, but I still have the need to have a small one, especially when I go out on my own! I recently purchased a nice sized one from Esprit at DFO for a bargain $27….reduced from $100!!! This is my handbag I take to work or anywhere else I go on my own! The last handbag I bought was my $20 Kelvin Klein bag I got in New York – oh how I miss shopping in the states!!!

20121001-191827.jpg

In reality, my life has come to a point where my nappy bag days are almost over (sob), but it’s still going to be some time when all I have to take out with me is my normal sized handbag when the kids and I are together! Between wipes, nappies, drink bottles and snacks, plus all the other essentials, it is definite that I need a big bag to carry it all!

I’ve been looking for a nice stylish large bag for a while now that is big enough to fit what I need, but not the size of a suitcase (although sometimes tempting) and today I found one! I went out to look for a pair of togs and came home with a bag – as you do! The best thing it was $60 reduced to $24….score!!!

20121001-193205.jpg

I love my new big bag. It’s got loads of room, the colour goes perfect with so many of my clothes in my wardrobe and it’s made out of a cross between wool, hessian and straw (didn’t know how else I could explain it lol) which is different and I like different things! For now I will embrace my ‘BIG’ bag life as it means my babies are still very dependent on me and the day I won’t need to carry around what I do now, will be a very sad one!

20121001-193915.jpg

Polish Queen:)

20120807-200919.jpg

I miss seeing my toes in winter! Like I’ve stated several times, I love winter fashion and am obsessed with ballet flats, but one thing I miss while wearing enclosed shoes is sporting my polished toes because I am the toe nail polish queen! I don’t know about you, but I can’t live without having my toe nails painted! It may sound silly, but I almost feel naked or my outfit seems incomplete without them done. I’m exactly the same with lipgloss and mascara and deodorant for that matter lol! Now that spring is around the corner, it’s time to stock up on nail polish for the upcoming seasons of thongs and sandles. And what better way to start with all the sales that are around!

20120807-200537.jpg

I bought a beautiful shade on the weekend at Cotton On for $3!!!!! Recently I have also purchased quite a few lovely shades at Woolies for the same price! I wear mostly pink and red tones and I love my new favourite colour coral. I mostly paint just my toes, but occasionally I’ll paint my finger nails. The problem I have with my finger nails is that it chips too easily and once it chips I can’t stand it! At least with your toes if it chips it’s further away to the eye so less noticeable! I’ve purchased a few pairs of open toe ballet flats recently, which is a nice balance to wear a reasonably enclosed shoe but still able to show off painted toe nails and will be great for spring!

20120807-201010.jpg

I’m also loving that my eldest daughter has taken to loving having her toes polished as well:) I have to disclose that my son loved it when he was little lol and I have to say no now otherwise he would still want them done lol! Painting your nails and having girly time is a lovely bonding session to spend with your daughter, I can’t wait for when my girls are older so we can go and have manicures and pedicures together!

20120807-201724.jpg

Sales Galore!!!!

A common sign that is hanging in shop windows at the moment boldly exclaims – sales, sales, sales!!!! I love end of season sales, it always makes me wonder why I even bother purchasing stuff at the beginning of a season! If only we had enough will power to wait until now we’d have so much more money to spend!

20120731-191614.jpg

The fashion this winter has been awesome! From tights, to coloured skinny jeans, to long flowing cardigans. Yet there has still been the oldie but goodie stuff around like boots, ballet flats, jackets and jeans! I’m so looking forward to the warmer weather, but I will miss wearing my winter attire!

You think by now we should have reached our limit of needing anymore winter clothes, but I don’t know about anyone else, no matter what time of year if I find something I love and is a bargain price I’ll gladly buy it! I’ve spent my whole winter trying to find a nice quality hoodie, but I’m still searching and am about to retire until next winter! On the weekend I was told to check out Cotton On, so after work yesterday I stopped in at Browns Plains Plaza….I came out with everything but a hoodie – oops!

I couldn’t help myself but the bargains were calling my name! I only had a small amount of time and had to get some groceries, but I still managed to purchase two pairs of shoes, a jacket, cardi and two tops for a total of $60!!! Most of the stuff I bought were originally priced at $40 and came down to as low as $5!!!!

20120731-194118.jpg
My jacket was $40 reduced to $15 at Big W…it came in navy blue as well, I think I’ll go back and get that one too:)

20120731-194327.jpg
I did go into Cotton On but didn’t purchase a hoodie….I do love these three items though:) $15 cardi and the two tops were $5 each!

20120731-194535.jpg

20120731-194554.jpg
My shoes were the best bargain….$10 each from Famous Footwear!!!

Imagine if it wasn’t a work day and I had more time to shop….omg!!! It’s clear to me that these days, there is no reason why anyone can’t dress respectably or make sure their children have shoes on their feet. I bought Sienna a beautiful coral pair of high top shoes at Big W last week for $3 and a red and white spotted pair for $3 as well! There are sales galore at the moment and there is nothing better than walking out of a shop with a bargain in your shopping bag!!!!
